DESIGNING A BABY BLANKET BRAND

Role: Creative Director

Opportunity

My wife started abbey’s house, a handmade baby products company, in 2014 out of her love to create things. Our challenge was positioning our brand as a premium handmade product worthy of the price.

Insight

To set the brand apart in the mind of the consumer and justify being in the premium baby products category we needed to make sure that we created a brand that was timeless enough to let the company grow and evolve around it while still letting the patterns and fabrics we use be the hero.

Result

From baby blankets to crib sheets and alphabet flashcards, our products are part of those special family moments and become those heirloom items that will be held on to and passed down for generations.

The Brand

The Abbey's House brand was designed to be a modern and elegant mark while communicating the handmade nature of the products.

The Website

The Abbey's House website was designed around two pillars. Easy shopability with clear product images. And emotional lifestyle photography.

We knew that if we were going to command a premium price for our products we had to inspire the customer by showing them what it would be like to snuggle up with one of our Cuddle Blankets.

Surface Design

The first designs and patterns were created to celebrate our home state of Minnesota but we quickly expanded into other subject matter. We approached each design with a modern interpretation of many classic design themes. Such as, books, music, transportation, and nature.
